Co-Hosting of Event by Pakistan on Strengthening UNIDO’s Role in Enhancing Global Food Security at the UN in Vienna

From April 19-20, 2023, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) held an event at the UN headquarters in Vienna to discuss the role of the organization in promoting global food security. The event was co-hosted by Pakistan and Japan, with the theme “Strengthening UNIDO’s role in enhancing global food security: The Way Forward.” The conference aimed to bring together key stakeholders from around the world to share their perspectives and experiences in addressing global food security challenges.

About the Event

The event was attended by high-level dignitaries from around 70 countries, including the President of Pakistan, Arif Alvi. The conference provided a platform for policymakers, development partners, UN agencies, private sector leaders, and civil society organizations to come together and share knowledge on how to strengthen UNIDO’s role in promoting global food security.

The event was organized by the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations in Vienna, in collaboration with the Government of Japan, UNIDO, and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.
